The work of Isabel Devos is a research between photography and painting, an investigation on the literal border between nature and human culture.
Isabel Devos (°1975, BE) studied Photo Art at the KASK School of Arts Ghent. After several years of functional photographic work within the theatre sector she presented the series Contemplative Landscapes in 2017. This came about as a result of an artist residency at KIK in the Netherlands in 2014. Later she became laureate of the portfolio review of the photography platform Urbanautica. As a result, her work was included in the gallery exhibition Because it’s in my nature in Paris in 2017. In 2016 her work was shown during the summer exhibition Into nature; Art expedition in the Netherlands.
In the spring of 2019 Devos was invited to show her work in Venice and Murano in collaboration with glass artists Marina and Susanna Sent. This resulted in an international collaboration with the Taiwanese art consultant V&E Art who has since represented Devos’ work in Paris and Taiwan. At the beginning of 2020 Devos was a guest in Taiwan for a longer working period.
Currently Devos is showing work in Taiwan and China (Platform, OneMoment, Art Shangai), and had an exhibitions in Venice (Marina e Susanna Sent, 2021), Ghent (Solo exposition at Casa Argentaurum) and the Ostend Photo Festival in 2021.
